Intel Will Have An iOS Smartwatch Out Before Apple Does

It’s $199, and out in November. It won’t have email or phone capabilities.
Speaking of iOS, code has showed up in the beta version of 8.1 that indicates iPads are coming with fingerprint readers, Touch ID, and Apple Pay. Engadget.com reports that it’s for in app purchases…nothing about NFC is showing up for iPads.
Google’s next smartphone, code named Shamu, will apparently be 5.9 inches, and run version 5 of Android. Bgr.com says it will be called Nexus 6, not Nexus X, and there’s no sign of a smaller sized model so far.
iPhone 6 Getting Conquest Sales from Android

Techcrunch.com reports that the Windows 9 preview that was expected for the Microsoft event September 30th may not actually be released now until October. No word on what the holdup is.
The next Google Nexus 9 tablet could be beautiful. Gigaom.com says the 64 bit Android tablet will be made for them by HTC, makers of the gorgeous HTC One (M8). It’s likely to replace the $400 Nexus 10, which has been built by Samsung.
A Great Smartphone Gets Windows

It will include Microsoft’s Windows Phone personal assistant, Cortana.
Symantec is trimming the Norton line to a single security suite. Cnet.com reports that Norton Security drops September 23rd, and will combine their antivirus and internet security products. You can register up to 3 devices across Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. It will retail for about 80 bucks, but expect to see it discounted.
Thenextweb.com says Facebook is testing out adding stickers to newsfeed comments like people presently can drop into private messages. Prepare to either be delighted or annoyed!
Microsoft Ditches Android

The Nokia Android phones will be switched to Windows Phone and the Lumia brand, according to gigaom.com.
Thenextweb.com reports that the Google Analytics app is now available for iOS. You could already check your web & app data on Android with the app.
Just when you think nothing else can leak out about the iPhone 6, macrumors.com says it will sport a 13 megapixel camera, up from 8 on the 5s.
Microsoft Hopes This is a Killer Feature for Windows Phone

Gigaom.com says it’s new virtual machine software that will run your Android apps. A new version should be out in time for the next update to Android.
Apple may have dropped glass backs for iPhones, but hasn’t given up on glass. Appleinsider.com reports they have patented a method of building seamless, all glass iOS devices, monitors, and TVs.
Sony is trying to ride the selfie wave…bgr.com saysThe Xperia C3 phablet has a 5 megapixel front facing camera complete with flash, and it ships in August.
Android Wear Gets a Smartphone App

Engadget.com reports that scientists at Stanford, Harvard, MIT, and University of Sydney have gotten past a major hurdle in printing 3D organ replacements. They can now also print the blood vessels in them.
Apple has a new patent to make your devices more secure. 9t05mac.com says it automatically configures security and other settings of a device based on biosensors that determine the location and habits of the user.
Cheaper HTC One Coming

It’s the E8, and according to cnet.com, it’s mainly a polycarbonate skinned M8, with the tough plastic replacing the metal skin the M8 has and a little less fancy camera. The E8 comes in blue, red, black and white. There’ll be a dual-SIM version in some countries, allowing you to make and receive calls from two numbers in one phone — handy for people who like to keep their business and personal lives separate.
Ostendo has built a tiny 3D projector chip the size of a smartphone camera. Geek.com says it costs $30, can project 48 inch 3D images, and will be out next year. At that price, there will definitely be at least one Android phone maker that takes a gamble on Ostendo’s holographic projection chip.
They may become as common as police and media choppers…gigaom.com reports the FAA is thinking of allowing movie studios to use drones. The precision agriculture, power line and pipeline inspection, and oil and gas flare stack inspection industries have also approached the FAA about an exemption.
Cellular Bay Area Internet of Things Coming

Technologyreview.com says they already have done this in France to connect appliances, bike locks, and even dog collars.
Want to make your own modest game app? Businessinsider.com reports that you can build your own simple app in about 5 minutes using Appy Pie. It is uploaded to their servers, and for a fee, can be uploaded to iOS, Android, and others.
Restaurant payments app Cover now lets you dine and dash…legally…in 20 select San Francisco restaurants. Techcrunch.com says they’ve been running in 80 eateries New York City.
Samsung Galaxy Gear Dropping Android and Name?

Tizen may be pushed as an over the air update to Gear watches. Geek.com says they will likely also drop the Galaxy name.
A useful feature has been added to Facebook for iOS…thenextweb.com reports you can now create posts offline, and they’ll automatically upload to Facebook when you have a better signal, or switch out of airplane mode if you’ve been flying.
Cnet.com says UC Irvine Med school has handed out Google Glass to all the medical students. Irvine is the 1st med school to fully incorporate Glass into its 4 year curriculum. It could be a boon for doctors to check files or lookup info without having to use their hands. (At $1500 each, don’t hold your breath for your employer or your school to do this!
Blazingly Fast WiFi is Coming

Bgr.com says Quantenna has announced not 5G, but aTEN G Wi-Fi chipset that will be out next year. They claim it’s exponentially faster and has a much greater range.
Sure to gin up speculation about a full Apple television again, 9to5mac.com reports that Apple has added A&E, History Channel, & Lifetime to its Apple TV lineup.
If you really like tweaking your apps on Android, check out App Config. Thenextweb.com says it will let you turn your screen on full brightness for Netflix, but keep it dimmer for apps with data. The free version is ad supported.
